Description
The songs and carols in this collection were arranged for Steve’s students in my private studio to have enjoyable and celebrative musical ensemble experiences in my annual “Holiday Play Party” over the past several years.
Watch a mountain dulcimer trio:
He is sharing them here in both audio and visual ways so that players of both mountain and hammered dulcimers can have the same joy we have each year. And if, like him, you live where there are few or no other dulcimer players, you can play along with the demonstration CD and share at least some of the joy of playing your part in the ensemble!
A sample of Deck the Halls is provided in the images. (This sample is in DAA tuning, DAd tuning is also included)
This book is “bi-lingual”: Hammered dulcimer players use standard notation; mountain dulcimer players use standard notation and tablature.
The bold numbers refer to frets. If the number is without any parentheses, it is played on the melody string. If it is enclosed in [one] sent of parentheses e.g. (2) it is played on the middle string. If it is enclosed in a double set of parentheses e.g. ((3)) it is played on the bass string.
Deck the Halls to “Deck the Halls” from the accompanying demonstration CD.
