The mail man’s come and gone
Brought a letter from my old Mom
Still singin the same ol’ song,
just like this porch swing,
swingin’ forward, swingin’ back
Just like this porch swing,
Her train never jumps the track.
So reliable, Undeniable, Certifiable
…..Porch swingin’
I sit here wonderin’ why
I bother to reply
Can I take a chance
And learn some brand new steps
In this Old Time dance
Or am I just caught up in a trance?
My old dog’s sittin’ here
Seems there’s nothin’ he do fear
Just stick his nose into the air
And take a whiff of what’s over there
And then he lay back down
I wonder where it will end?
Too tired to break
Unwilling to bend
No more tears will I weep
Got my soul to keep
Rock myself to sleep
The mail man’s come and gone
Brought a letter from my old Mom.
